Biiig week coming up at the babe. For now, I’m enjoying the faux-springtime and preparing for apparently a gigantic snowstorm tomorrow? Why am I making weather small talk like we don’t know each other? It’s Valentine’s, and I sincerely do send love through this newsletter to each and everyone one of you. Pretend that instead of your inbox, this arrived in a handmade little Valentine mailbox. XO - Caroline
MONDAY:
KHAMARI (6:30PM) <21+>
Spotify Presents: Khamari. Big production and full room. Lovely soul/R&B from a start with a wonderful team. Will be a top-notch one-show evening here at babies r us. - Greg
Elegant, soulful RnB. Khamari is a star, the last of our Spotify Stages shows. Rip to a real one, chaotic but consistently high quality. Huge shout out to those no longer with the company , all a dream to work with and deserving of far better ! - Alex
Very sad to see the end of the Spotify Stages series, oh how the mighty have fallen. Out with a bang though for sure, this song is utterly beautiful. - Caroline
TUESDAY:
BRIGETTE CALLS ME BABY (6:30PM) <18+>
Post-Strokes era hot boy band feels LA trying to be NYC but it's actually CHICAGO which is super left-field. They are "impressed by our backline" which I do like as I hand picked all those little items myself. blah blah blah they're definitely tight and it should be a lovely little time. - Greg
Brigette plays the baby. Rock n roll to save the world, already approaching sellout. These guys dress like The Hives, if they're half as good live this will rule - Alex
Funny cause I told Alex it felt British. Definitive Elvis impression going on here. - Caroline
WEDNESDAY:
LOREN KRAMAR (6:30PM) <21+>
Loren has one of those faces that you see through the screen and go "how does someone look like that?" Must be a total jackass, right? Actually the sweetest angel. We did a BABY TV with him back over the pandemic and it really blew me away. High Production and lovely songs. - Greg
A true joy with every email, and the music is smoooooth. Feels like love, feels like a Valentine's Day spesh. - Alex
This is at least the second time Greg has brought up Loren’s good looks so I think we know who he’s targeting for a Valentine’s day tryst. Liam Benzvi in the front for this show, perfect choice for a romantic little eve. - Caroline
THE INTERLUDE (9:30PM) <21+>
MFM Presents: a night of love. Beautiful Live Music acts inclusive of Shae Universe, Kaien Cruz, and Brianna McKnight. - Greg
love comes to town, pt 2 - Alex
What’s Luv? - Caroline
THURSDAY:
DANNY LOPRIORE (6:30PM) <21+>
World famous comedian turned musician. Frustrated with me because I have a flip phone... I wonder if I'll make it into the set if there's a comedy section... Sorry Danny <3 - Greg
Navigating the delicate intersection of comedy and music, Danny is seriously funny. Eager to see how the music shakes, but this'll be fun for sure. - Alex
HAIDEN (9:30PM) <AA+> For some reason this reminds me of Skins (UK)... maybe it's the sound or the look, but it's bringing up some emotions that are difficult to navigate... Late night kid party. - Greg
Idk about SKINS. I see the Maxxie comparison sure, but I'm more getting "Pete Davidson with fuck-off cheekbones"? Packed with sass, 'Sorry to your next Ex' makes me giggle but it's a genuine bop. - Alex
The look is yassified Pete for sure, the vibe is brooding e-boy pining over a subway crush to the tune of salty little pop beats. - Caroline
FRIDAY:
LILY SEABIRD (7PM) <21+> Alright... Lily is incredible. I saw her play Sundown(stairs) a few months ago because my dear friend Kierst was supporting and I truly cried during most of the set. I begged Lily to send me the new record, which she did, then took away, then sent again... It's been out for a few tumultuous weeks now and has destroyed me more with every listen. Every song is incredible, every lyric breaks my little heart. WOW. She is a star in the making, supported by other Vermont legends GREG FREEMAN (the Songs: Ohia of our generation), Renny Conti, and Precious Human. I'm going to cry and hope Eamon doesn't murder my ass because someone made this a 4 band bill. - Greg
If there's been a better lineup in 2024, I'm yet to see it. I don't cry because I'm cool, but if I did, this album would totally be my current crying album. There are like 6 songs on this album that fucking BREAK me. I feel like this time last year I was telling everyone who'll (pretend to) listen how obsessed I am with Greg Freeman, 12 months later I'm doing the same with Lily Seabird! Burlington dialed in rn. Renny Conti wrote the best song of 2020, and every time I see Christian it's better than the last. - Alex
Yeah, this bill is pretty major. Xtian (precious human) is one of the most kindhearted and earnest people I’ve met in New York, and writes beautiful music to match. Greg Freeman’s record I Looked Out is one of my favorites of the last few years, somewhere between folk and rock and just perfect for any afternoon you might find yourself listening to it. Less familiar with Renny Conti, but that song Greg linked is incredible. Headlining is the inimitable Lily Seabird to bring us all into the night floating on a peaceful little cloud of heartbreak and wonder. - Caroline
VOYEUR (11PM) <21+> Local legends have a late night show inclusive of Chanel Beads DJ set which is going to be so nice... kindest new cool band there is imho. Voyeur is Jake and Joe and many others? So hard to keep track but the music willst be good and the feeling will be there in full force. - Greg
This night will be such a hit movie, they'll be talking franchise deals. Late night shredders from Voyeur, Chanel Beads on 1's x 2's. Someone get Voyeur to make bobbleheads, I want a headbopping Kerwin on my bedside table. - Alex
It doesn’t really get bigger than this. Voyeur (Jake, Joe, Max, and Sharleen) is the only band lately bringing you that real Gunk Sound you so missed, and rumor has it this is an EP release show. Support from legend Push Ups, with Chanel Beads and perhaps Billy Jones himself up in the front. Your Friday night plans on a silver platter. - Caroline
SATURDAY:
THE UNDERCOVER DREAM LOVERS (7PM) <21+> Hot little funky indie tracks from Los Angeles, CA. - Greg
I'm normally thrown off the scent by bands with four+ words in their name, but I dig TUDL. It's got hints of Toro Y Moi, sunshine music for these fake Spring hours. - Alex
Bouncy, fun, matches the name. - Caroline
NUEVAYORKINOS (11PM) <21+> Hot party, will be a blow out, I believe. - Greg
Way excited for this. Happy Bday Nuevayorkinos! Cool kids party, typically over at Black Flamingo (a Baby's fave) . Tix are hustling on out the door, this will be a full venue heater, mark my words. - Alex
Lovely people, cool organization, seems like this will be a biiiig celebration. - Caroline
SUNDAY:
WOLFACEJOEYY (6:30PM) <AA+> Really cool rap artist, MFM event one that goes straight into event 2. - Greg
this feels like the sort of show the kids will go awfff too. Best tylenol adjacent song? Where's the sponsorship at? - Alex
New single is hot. - Caroline
DONUTS ARE FOREVER (9:30PM) <18+> Kind of like it's own after party, coming straight out of WOLFACEJOEYY - Greg
C'mon now Greg, don't sell it short! A J Dilla party at Baby's, this is the stuff of dreams! - Alex
Stacked bill, big MFM night. - Caroline
Last Nite.
A friend of the Babyverse tells us about a cool show they went to.
Jade, of legendary local rockers Sub*T, tells us about the Local Weatherman show on Friday.
Ever wish you could have seen Blink 182 at a little show at Soma San Diego in 1994? Well, seeing Local Weatherman at Baby’s was my equivalent. Fritz is my favorite songwriter and front man. Their songs — catchy and infectiously fun, pay tribute to everything we love while making it their own. I loved looking around at everyone’s reactions to his vocal range. Same. Must be mentioned, epic support from Sex Week and Kierst, debuting her newest and most powerful music to date. There was magic (literally, a magician in the front room) in the air.
This Week At Baby’s Official Playlist
and, just for fun, a new one from Erika de Caiser and They Hate Change.

This newsletter is correct. "Pornstar" by Renny Conti was the best song of 2020.
