WEDNESDAY:
MEGA BOG w/ shallowhalo (6:30PM) <21+> -
”I saw Mega Bog at Trans Pecos in 2019 and they were just so good. Super talented with a voice that won't stop. New record is loved, and so is shallowhalo. Let's go.” - Alex
“Megabog is one of those legendary true freak bunch of superstars. The lore is grand and full of accolades from everyone's favorite songwriters. They're sweet people who are moving to Greece soon, so live shows in the US might become more rare! We'll see! Expecting a room full of well behaved art rockers. James from Big Thief is involved somehow - total legend and very kind freak - they are all feel super special!!” - Greg
“I first fell in love with Mega Bog seeing them at Cake Shop when all of you were just sparkles in the corner of the city’s eye.” - Billy
MAHALIA presents (9:30PM) <18+> -
“Mahalia brings a new wave of what she's been digging. Last lineup was 3/3 absolute hits. Super excited to see where this one takes us.” - Alex
THURSDAY:
BILLY WOODS (630PM) <21+> - “No competition here. Billy Woods released the album of the year. Not sure what sort of sorcery brought it about, but him and Kenny Segal went nuts on this one. Sold out, but keep eyes peeled for an additional release.” - Alex
“This is good music, it seems like Billy and Kenny are pretty tapped in, this video is shot at Purgatory and the TWA lounge and fits really well. The music is a hit, truly. Sold out, cool rap artist.” - Greg
“Wow, 8.9? I’m gonna listen, learn and show up as a Day 1 on the bandwagon to this.” - Billy
HALEY BLAIS with Georgia Harmer (930PM) <18+> -
“Another pandemic fave for me. Listened to Below the Salt on repeat. Georgia Harmer was on rotation for me last year too! Cool lineup, cool night.” - Alex
FRIDAY:
DALLAS COWBOYS record release party (10PM) <21>
“Billy has a lil more insight on this one, but they fit in the “cool new band/SXSW buzz" bubble for sure.” - Alex
“Pretty fun plug and play duo of cooked kids playing loud dancey songs. Had fun with them at the backyard co-op show in Austin during SXSW.” - Greg
“I love their name. In theory I don’t like the type of music that they are making but seeing it at Joe’s SXSW party won me over. The songs are super catchy, well crafted and packed with more bubbling energy than a shook up case of Monster.” - Billy
SATURDAY:
COROOK (7PM) <AA> - .
“Mega sold out, three weeks in adv. Lots of buzz here, excited to host!” - Alex
ICE CREAM SOCIAL (11PM) <21+> - “Travis of Sundae Sauuuce / Breaking Bread fame, bringing his ice cream party to Baby's. Always goes OFF at Oddfellows, lots of press for it lately. Expect this to pop off, like all of Travis' parties.” - Alex
SATURDAY PT. 2
Baby’s Presents TELEMAKUS (7:30) <21+> (📍PUBLIC RECORDS ) -
“Telemakus’ The New Heritage might have been my favorite record of 2022 that came out in 2021. It was my soundtrack to late night walks around the city. I actually discovered it when listening to Jon Caramanica’s Jazz in 2021 Popcast when Marcus J. Moore slipped it in as highly recommened at the end of the episode. If you like Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Dilla, Sam Gendel, Adult Swim bump music, etc, then you will love this f’ing genius. NYC Debut.” - Billy
Baby’s Presents XJERMSX (10PM) <21+> (📍MOOD RING )
Celebrating the debut single release of “Drugs in the Bathroom” out on Music Website. This hard bop is the song of the Summer, hands down. It reminds me of like Laid Back’s White Horse revved up or a smoothed out Warm Leatherette, while evoking a twisted mix of contemporary artists like Doss, Coco & Clair Clair and New York. At first glance this might seem like breathing in the fumes of an Indie Sleaze cash-in but, NO! it’s so so much deeper (and into Brooklyn) than that. With it’s immaculate weaving of economically sparse production, coked-up electro bounce beats, hook-notic talk/sing vocals and lushly layered production this 4+ min bangertown romp just begs to get extended well beyond the A-side of a 12” dub edit. With a slew of guests and Perfectly Imperfect on the assist.” - Billy
SUNDAY:
ALLEGRA KRIEGER (8PM) <21+> -
“One of the bar's favourites, returning for her own headline. We're so stoked on this, the new music is INSANE.” - Alex
“I can't say enough good things about this songwriter. She's truly special, able to communicate so much meaning and feeling into what can seem like a simple song. Just listen to this one, I can listen on repeat and hear a new line or subtle moment after every re-listen. Also just an incredible piano player and guitarist. I asked her to give me guitar lessons once and she said she "had no idea how to play guitar or what she was doing.” - Greg
“She knows what she’s doing.” - Billy
