Ok so I was in yoga last week and someone in my class told me they read our last email so if you’re that person, hey! They also mentioned they liked how we link to specific songs we’re into from our upcoming shows so now I present to you, the weekly recycling This Week at Baby’s playlist, live and online. It’ll include tracks from shows that week, hand selected by Team Bb. Peruse at your leisure and let me know which shows (or yoga classes) you’re most excited about. - Caroline
I can’t believe I missed Mandy, Indiana. I hear there is a bidding war for their next show (see below). Alex can you put our hat in the ring? Jake had to go home for family stuff so I was stuck working at Billy’s Record Salon all week. Which included our first night of #nightdigging, which, if you are around Thursday night please come by for deals, drops and decent-at-best free wine. Moving forward the store is open Thursdays from 6pm-10pm. It’s a hang. Anyway, I just pressed play on the new and cool Baby’s playlist thing so I can figure out what show I should check out this week. Which one are you going to? Let us know in the comments below. - Billy
GA-20 & BLACK JOE LEWIS (6:30PM) <18+> Great double headline from a lane less travelled at baby's. Voices from another time, rollicking delivery. Great fun for a Monday! - Alex
Blues bands from the North East, double-header/co-headline. - Greg
Pretty rich, energetic stuff. This song is phenomenally fun. - Caroline
FRESH FINDS (9:30PM) <21+> A lineup of stars from previous Baby's nights. Both Rahill and Arcy Drive have sold baby's out in the past 18 months, and we've wanted Slimdan in the room for a minute. Spotify delivering some tasty treats to those who show, but ya best have a ticket because this one is sold to the 9's. - Alex
Spotify Event for Fresh Finds Playlist Live, featuring food and artists such as Arcy Drive, Rahill (angel), and someone named "Slimdan" - Greg
The peoples’ DSP, live and in person with some of their favorite up-and-comers. Lots of easy listening on this bill, should be a chiller. - Caroline
TUESDAY:
PAUL RUSSELL (6:30PM) <AA+> “You're my lil boo thang" feels like it'll outlive me. Packed room for sure, this one be deeply sold out. - Alex
More of a pop-based rapper from LA, sold out. - Greg
Once that song gets in your head it’s parked there for 3-5 business days. - Caroline
NZ based musical artist with big aspirations. Kitty opening, which is some deep internet stuff. - Greg
Eerie, synthy, webby stuff. - Caroline
Alex told me to go this. - Billy
DOLLY (9:30PM) <21+> We love this band, so excited to host the rebrand-res. New single HITS - Alex
Night one of Dolly residency with venue fav's PEAER and sweetest angel Marblemouth. - Greg
Hometown heroes, with some excellent support to boot. I’m with Alex, the single is good fun. Also, this Peaer song is still on my rounds. - Caroline
THURSDAY:
SUNDIAL (6:30PM) <AA+> Some sold out shows make me smile a lil more than others. This is one of those, Sundial seem like the sweetest folk, and fans are so excited for this. Mayyyybe some tix on the door if you're lucky. - Alex
A seemingly very popular pop duo, should be a big hit with the kids as it is sold out! - Greg
Fun little juicebox hits of Pop Music for your dopamine receptors. - Caroline
BOYS GO TO JUPITER (9:30PM) <21+> What a fun lil name they got there. Music feels joyous, hints of Jenny Lewis. - Alex
High-energy group from new york with some crowd participation and ~nice vibes~ - Greg
I met these guys at a Friendsgiving last year. The music kind of has that feeling for me. Should be a cozy nite. - Caroline
FRIDAY:
KARI FAUX (7PM) <21+> Kari Faux has been a long time fave of the venue. Her epic new album needs to be heard live in NYC, and we're stoked to host. - Alex
MFM is bringing this Arkansas rapper over here, we can assume the room will be full. - Greg
That track with Smino has me craving hot days and a drippy popsicle. Come and shake your tushie a little. - Caroline
SATURDAY:
KEVIN GARRETT (7PM) <18+> Songwriter writing mega hits for others, and some ear worms in his own right. - Alex
Beautiful little voice on this aspiring acoustic pop songwriter. - Greg
Lot of depth to this fella, should be a beautiful night. - Caroline
In which a friend of the Babyverse tells us about a cool show they went to.
This week, we’ve got the formidable Ruby Hoffman, formerly of Fire Talk (but still of great taste) here to tell us a bit about the Mandy, Indiana show we had over the weekend.
Fresh off spot plays in a who’s who of critical year end lists, Mandy Indiana played their debut NYC show at Baby’s on Saturday bathed in all red and fresh off (perhaps inspired by?) watching LCD perform in Manhattan the night before. Ben Locke said Baby’s was “the most packed I’ve seen it in recent memory” and Matt Siggs effused that their debut record is one of his favorites of the year. I heard there’s a bidding war to host their 2024 return. Water From Your Eyes ****** **** back stage and the band had champagne and Baby’s tacos. Mandy definitely isn’t likely to be invited to perform any Spotify holiday parties but their particular blend of contorted punk and acrid dance music gives hope for the future of left-field music to cross over (rumor has it to the daytime stages of Coachella next spring). “This will crush at fests” - Willie Upbin. All the merch sold out but give the best gift at your office secret Santa with a copy of ‘i’ve seen a way’ here:

~ for your consideration ~
I offer you the Substack in convenient playlist format. Updates weekly. Enjoy.
Darn, can't make Princess Chelsea, her last album was quite good. Hope you score Mandy, Indiana - Baby's would be the perfect spot to catch them!
wow i'd love to write up a baby's show some time pls that's so sweet <3
