March 23rd - March 29th
It's a feeling <3
It’s going to be another beautiful week in the center of the universe, south Williamsburg. Last week was a delight: we had our first of many shows w Marshall, announced and sold out the boat show with Water from Your Eyes and Deerhoof (does anyone have a bigger boat?), warmed up the new dj booth and dance floor, and welcomed in some new friendly faces into the baby’s universe. More on that, and our shows for the week, all below. Love you btw - Caroline
MONDAY:
EARLY: CLOVER COUNTY (7:00PM) <AA>
Georgia-born, delicate bootgaze part of the new crop of alt-Americana artists. Her new record is textured with twangy fiddle licks and acoustic melody. - Caroline
TUESDAY:
EARLY: CHLOE QISHA (7:00PM) <AA>
Two back to back sold out nights with Chloe Qisha. The music she makes is honest, bold, and romantic. With pop music this good, I’m not surprised she has the fans to back it up. These shows will definitely leave a strong impression. Stop by early to see if you can grab a last minute ticket at the door. - Nicolette
WEDNESDAY:
EARLY: CHLOE QISHA (7:00PM) <AA>
Running it round once more.
THURSDAY:
EARLY: ALICIA CRETI (6:30PM) <AA>
Alicia Creti is sure to stop everyone in their tracks on Thursday evening with her powerhouse vocals. Her vocal style and instrumentation is so lush. If you like excellent piano-centered Pop R&B, this is the one for you. - Nicolette
LATE: HIGHSCHOOL (9:30PM) <18+>
Melbourne-by-way-of-London band whose latest self-titled album is a tasty palette of melodic post-punk. Peep the track Sony Ericsson it’s a banger - Eli (Baby’s new blood straight from San Fransisco, cool as a cucumber, strongest mustache in the room)
Supported by Taraneh and dear darlings Perfect 100, who have some new songs to play you that will have your toes tappin and your heart aching. - Caroline
This was the first band I saw in NYC ever, at Alphaville, two years ago, the day before the earthquake. Didn’t even realise they were from Melbourne. This is cool music and if you are here you are cool. I don’t make the rules. - Oscar
BABY PRESENTS: HAYDEN PEDIGO at St. John’s Lutheran Church
Both of Hayden’s shows that I’ve been lucky enough to witness have left me with the indelible feeling that, wouldn’t you know it, music is so, so beautiful. He commands a calm and quiet presence over the room, with pin-drop rapt attention from listeners drinking in his deft fingerstyle guitar playing and stories of home. This is going to be a really special one at the church, made even more so by the fact that it’s taking place on Hayden’s birthday <3 - Caroline
New age guitar god who crafts beautiful soundscapes fit for a dusty Amarillo highway, a la Ry Cooder’s Paris Texas. Bonus points for this show being at a church, vibes on 10 - Eli
FRIDAY:
LATE: BLISSSMAN (11:00PM) <21+>
Big energy (5k style). High voltage DJ set via Furtado Global, afrobeats meats rave, late night Friday play. - Caroline
SATURDAY:
EARLY: BABY DANCE - ALEX GOING AWAY PARTY (5:00PM) <21+>
Sad but true, our beloved and most Australian fella with the biggest heart is flying out West to start a new life in San Francisco at the end of April. The Real Alex G, Jack Harlow’s Doppelganger, dear friend and devoted Baby’s stalwart for the last 7 years is starting anew. Come join us to send him off with a full night Baby Dance with some of his friends and family playing, djing, hosting. Plenty of special secret cheeky little surprises in store that I’ll tell you about if you ask me separately but he reads these so…. - Caroline
SUNDAY:
EARLY: STRUTMAN LANE (6:30PM) <21+>
Big n brash jazzy funk from DC. Big time happy music tunes. - Caroline
My one year anniversary of working at Baby’s! I’ve been coming to Baby’s since 2019, the first show I ever played in NYC was here. I can’t express how much I love this place, and the people in it. I will be floor managing this night and it’s fun music, all night long. Come celebrate with me, and hang in our beautiful new booths. - Nicolette
LATE: FOOD HOUSE (9:30PM) <21+>
Hyperpop glitchcore composed of the electronic music producers Fraxiom and Gupi. My brain is short circuiting listening to this. Keep your Sunday energy up. - Caroline
