Jazzy grooves from Londoner Olive Jones, easy on the ears here, and she just released a collab w Bombay Bicycle Club who I haven’t thought about in a long time … wow I bought this CD at Newbury Comics and whiled away many hours in the school dark room on photos of like tree stumps and stuff. My dear friend and the GOAT, Caroline asked me to contribute to this week’s Baby’s All Right Substack. You know, Baby’s? At 146 Broadway? The music venue? The spot with the iconic frozen drink, the Pink Baby? I don’t have much to say this time. Usually I do, but this week I don’t. What I do have to share is that this Saturday we’re throwing a free, all day party for our World Cup series, Game Days. We’ve got a stacked lineup of DJs: the Don himself, El HIJO de PueblaYork, HELLOTONES; el mero mero, Amores; Mr. Cool, Mr. Flyyyy, Quest; our very own Veronica Everhart; and some fool named DJ Resin. We’ll be screening both games in the live room, there’ll be games and other activities throughout the day, plus free fooooood. As much as I hate FIFA and everything that institution represents, I love the World Cup and the sense of community that comes with it. I’ve met so many friends just from wearing a jersey, watching matches, and talking fútbol with strangers. That’s really the point of this event, to bring people together. And there’s no better place to do that than Baby’s. Come hang. - DJ Resin

It’s 4th of July guys I’m still new to this country and getting around this one. But it’s also a Saturday. Which means Baby Dance. This weekend is solely cover bands, real Americana or at least how I see it. The Storkes, It’s Britney Bitch, Thank You Friends - I’ll let you work out what they’re playing. Some heavy-handed themed DJ sets from friends and family of the venue. There’s food beforehand for the World Cup. There’s fireworks (not from us but prob nearby). It’s 4th of July! - Oscar
