Mid-week stack. Gotta keep you all on your toes! Lot of good stuff this week, two bands I absolutely adore are playing none other than the Babe. Hope to see you there <3 - Caroline
WEDNESDAY:
RAFFAELLA (6:30PM) <AA+>
Oh, great. I'm coming down off a mega Baby weekend, and now I've got music to cry to. - Alex
Indie pop that is cool and sounds great... cute little video here. Feels like some things I love ie. May Rio or Samia. It'll be a full room full of only sweeties, I'm predicting love will be in the air. Maddie Case asked me for guest list spots so you know it'll be huge in like a year or something. I have to remember to text her back. Maddie if you see this, you're all set, etc! - Greg
Samia ref is spot on, Greggo. - Caroline
KNIFETHROWER (9:30PM) <21+>
Both doing left of centre weird fun shit, but I'm super into this song from Puzzled Panther - Alex
KNIFETHROWER + PUZZLED PANTHER feels like it's one of those music shows that walks the line of being a fashion show in a good way (non-derogatory). - Greg
Definitely on the experimental side, should be a fun and heady one. - Caroline
THURSDAY:
HOUSE OF HARM (6:30PM) <18+>
New Order, darker synthy stuff. Tix moving, music to dance to. - Alex
Joe Kelley does it all for this band. It's got a cool older 80's style sound reminiscent of PULP a bit, which is always lovely to hear. - Greg
Somewhere between hair and heavy, big dramatic vampire movie sound. - Craroline
YL STARKER ZOOMO WIKI (9:30PM) <18+>
I was a little late on YL, but this one threw him to the front of my mind. The YL & Starker '22 record is a good time. Later hip hop show, it'll fill out deep. - Alex
Reminds me of THE DANCE - do y'all remember that place? Darkest days of my life but the music was great. Not a ton sold in advance but it'll kick off with skate rap heads, I'm sure. - Greg
New single from YL and Starker is high energy, breathy, and I can already see people bouncing to it. - Caroline
FRIDAY:
HEEMS (7PM) <18+>
Heems is back! Pushing sellout, party times. - Alex
I thought HEEMS went away, but HEEMS is back again. A talented rapper/visual artist who we've had the pleasure of hosting a few times now. This show is through MFM and goes straight into the late show, so it'll be a nice easy night!! - Greg
This song is so good. “Y’all know me, jazz and sashimi.” - Caroline
RAJUJU (11PM) <21+>
Raj throwing an after party for his homie Heems. Last time he threw a party w/ us, he packed it out on two days notice. Let's run it back - Alex
LEGENDARY evening with HEEMS and RAJUJU?? party time, all the friends will be there, I'm sure of it. - Greg
SATURDAY:
SADURN (7PM) <21+>
Yeah like jeepers, dangerous week to be a sad person at Baby's All Right. Bringing grown folks to tears on a Saturday. Going to bully Greg for those demos. I think I've been to every Sadurn show in NYC since 2021. - Alex
Unsure if i've ever loved a band more than I love Sadurn. G used to come over to visit their sibling whomst I had the absolute pleasure of living with sometime between 2014 and 2016 at David Blaine's The Steakhouse. During one of those visits G picked up a guitar laying around and played like 3 chords/hummed a melody and I was like... okay...... Truly a talent that is so palpable I've been following and checking in on ever since. I'm so lucky to have gotten to see them grow into the insanely perfect songwriter they are, with a band that is unmatched in quality (they play quietly, and therefore they sound better than any other band who plays live, right up there with COLA. LEARN people). They keep coming back to Baby's and every time it's sold out and beautiful. I hope they keep coming back forever. Got some demos the other week that reminded me music can be lifesaving and pure. - Greg
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the Sadurn Audiotree…I was sitting at Swallow Cafe and publicly crying silent tears. This music is completely enthralling, with deeply vivid lyrics and twangy guitar. Please don’t miss this. - Caroline
DANG! (11PM) <21+>
Dang! It's time 2 dance. Who doesn't wanna dance to soulful electronic music? We're up to our last 50 tix here, so get in quickly. - Alex
The party will hit big. BIG cool night <3 - Greg
SUNDAY:
DEEPER (7PM) <18+>
I'm not sure I've heard anything more than this song in the front bar. Baby's obsession, from the bar to the books. - Alex
They bring this heat... this will actually be my first time seeing this incredible band live. I ran into Drew for the first time a year and a half ago after he had just moved from Chicago to Bedstuy and have been pretty obsessed with him ever since. The band's recordings are incredible and they signed to my alma-mater Sub Pop through the sweetest boy on the planet, Nick Duncan. Nick, won't you give me a call? I hope you and Sarah are well. Will be a packed night with DJ's CASSANDRA JENKINS and DREA on decks up front <3 - Greg
First saw these guys when they opened for SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE at Elsewhere a couple years ago. They absolutely ripped, so I expect Sunday to be a heater. Used to be addicted to this one. - Caroline
Last Nite.
A friend of the Babyverse tells us about a cool show they went to.
Simon Parsons, talent buyer at Pianos and illustrious manager of local legends Fcukers, tells us about the Voyeur show last week.
It’s my second Voyeur show after seeing them rip through a set at Mercury lounge last year… I was impressed then and I’m impressed now. As an Australian I love to see a guitarist play their guitar like is a whack-a-mole in the spirit of Rowland S. Howard. And whilst I can heard see The Birthday Party references… we’re not in the back of some pub, we’re in New York City and you can feel the spirit of the likes of Velvet Underground and Sonic Youth running through Voyeur. Obvious cliches sure, but they exist for a reason and you can feel that energy coming from this band and into the audience. The new EP is cool (although I think the mix aint quite right guys!) and the songs translate. Everyone in the band knows their role and nails the assignment…search and destroy….the crowd erupts. I like this EP and most of all I love when slithers of melodic sunshine break through the thunder of everything else…That’s their gentler assassin at work Sharleen. The crowd clearly loves these moments as well as she receives the warmest of receptions. Blood, guts and gore left on the floor of Baby’s All Right at the end. Excited to see where Voyeur go and how many prisoners they take along the way.
This Week At Baby’s Official Playlist
and, just for fun, a new one from Babehoven.
